The Causes of Acne
Three out of four teen age persons will become afflicted with acne. This skin condition continues to plague individuals to as late as the late twenties. Many who get acne have difficulty in curing it. In many instances the self esteem of the afflicted person is adversely affected. For those people acne is not a minor problem, but a major one. It is also the case that there are some acne cases which are so severe that that scaring takes place. In a few instances surgery is required to remedy the situation. Did you know that the use of make up can cause acne in some individuals? Poor personal skin care can also cause acne. Any clogging of the hair follicle with make up or dirt can because the bacteria that causes acne migrates from the skin where it normally exists to the hair follicle. One other type of acne is caused by androgen hormones which cause sebaceous glands to grow and produce more sebum (an oily substance). Sebaceous glands normally grow and connect to the hair follicles. The additional sebum and the normally created dead cells clog the hair follicles. This condition attracts bacteria living in the skin to attack the hair follicles, causing inflammation and forming acne. What happens is that after the bacteria colony starts, a whitehead or a black head forms on the hair follicle. The whiteheads and the blackheads should not be squeezed. Squeezing increases the problem rather than resolving it. If the site becomes infected, puss appears, forming a yellow top. At the point that you get infections you need to see a doctor as acne infections can cause scaring. Some people become extensively scarred and must receive special treatment.
